This horse head formation photo is a newly printed copy of a 1919 formation photo, taken at Camp Cody in Deming, New Mexico. The photographer coordinated 650 military personnel, having them stand in the shape of a horse head. The saddle horse ridden by Major Frank G. Brewer, “the Devil”, was the inspiration for the horse head. The photo was taken on a tall tower, with the amount of people adjusted toward the back of the formation for perspective. The participants in the photo were members of Auxiliary Remount Depot 326. This photo is printed in sepia tone, and framed under glass in reclaimed wood.
